Fearmongers or Prophets? How Nnamdi Kanu / IPOB’s Warnings Became Reality

When IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu were shouting, "The Fulanis are coming!", "Divide Nigeria!", and "There is an Islamization agenda!", others dismissed them, saying, "Ohhh, he’s just a fearmonger," "He’s calling for war," "Igbos are Nigeria’s problem," or "They’re miscreants."

When we say, "We need to unite," they respond:

- "Ikwerre is not Igbo!"

- "Igbanke is not Igbo!"

- "We are South-South!"

- "We are Delta Igbo!"

- "My name is Sunday Okechukwu Oliseh, but sorry, I’m not Igbo."

Then, the Fulani terrorists—a.k.a. Northern Human Hunters)—entered Benue. Some said, "We are Plateau!"

They moved into Plateau; others said, "We are Yoruba!"

Then they advanced into Ondo. The Ekiti people claimed, "Ondo is close to the South-South; that’s why they’re affected."

But when the terrorists reached Ekiti, the people panicked: "Wait… I thought the Igbos were lying? Well, let’s keep mute so Asiwaju won’t lose the presidency, remember it's our turn"

Governor Akeredolu (of blessed memory), against all odds, mobilized every resource to defend Yorubaland. Yet, his brothers—who prioritized the presidency—allegedly helped the Fulanis poison him, took over, and politicized Amotekun.

When Oyo was attacked, other Southwestern states dismissed it: "It’s a PDP state."

Then, the "Uromi 16" incident happened. Suddenly, the North and Southwest united to remind everyone that the Esan people of Edo state have Igbo ancestry. Even though, years ago, they called us "Igbo expansionists" for saying the same thing.

As soon as that narrative faded, the Northern Fulani propaganda machine stopped saying "What happened in Uromi?" and switched to "What happened in the South?"

Miraculously, the South became "one"

- No Edo person boldly declared, "Uromi is in Edo, and they’re not Igbos!"

- The Yorubas didn’t claim Edo as descendants of Oranmiyan.

Such is the hypocrisy of Nigeria’s other regions. But my joy is that every hypocrite gradually realizes why Nigeria cannot remain one.
